During 2013 and 2014 we have been testing the HP SL4540 Gen8 server. The primary focus was with the large amount of directly connected 3.5 inch disks it supports. The chassis can fit 60 disks which are directly physically connected inside the server. This evades the need of attaching (multiple) storage enclosures to a single server.
